PPL(H) Ground Exams

Part of the Private Pilot Licence (Helicopter) syllabus includes completing nine written multiple choice ground exams. These can be done at Arcus Helicopter with our in-house Ground Examiner, Captain David Marsland.

Ground School Subjects

· Aircraft General Knowledge

· Air Law

· Communications

· Flight Performance and Planning

· Human Performance and Limitations

· Meteorology

· Navigation

· Operational Procedures

· Principles of Flight

Tuition for the 9 ground exams is split into self -study by the student and ongoing tuition by the instructor during the flying lesson. You may find, however, that some additional classroom based lessons might be useful to get you up to speed for your exams. We offer both a full package of one to one tuition for help with all the exams, or broken down for tuition on an individual subject.

Please talk to one of the Arcus team or email groundschool@arcus-heli.com for more details or to schedule a session.

CPL(H) Ground Exams

Before being able to complete your CPL(H) practical course, you are required to have completed either ATPL(H) or CPL(H) exams as well as the required hours. These exams seem like a daunting task but we can help you with them as much or as little as you wish. Depending which set (ATPL or CPL) you choose, depends on the number of exams and content level.

We are partnered with Bristol Ground School who can offer both the material and the exam practice database. If you have any questions about the exams or for more information or to discuss options through, please call 0115 982 6090 or email us at groundschool@arcus-heli.com
